  • An updated take on "Ender's Game".

    6.0
The writers lifted heavily from Ender's Game, a science fiction novel by Orson Scott Card. Unfortunately, they had to dumb it down in order to fit the 7 Days mold. How old do they think their audience is (or was at the time)? The video games they are playing were far from state of the art, even in 1998. They even staged a somewhat lackluster near gun-fight in a Laser Tag place. Okay, let's get back to the story. The game playing wizard is a girl who has some emotional baggage from her childhood having to do with her father and cops. Parker plays the usual Prince Charming to her so she ends up realizing what's really going on. The usual bad guys are in tow. It boils down to a twitch vs. twitch game with the good girl gone bad vs. the bad guy. Guess who wins?

In the middle of this, story lines about abused kids gone wrong and violence in video games floats in and out. Not sure what they were going for with those and I don't think the writers were either.moreless
