  • The Dark Vengeance episode of "77 Sunset Strip" was pretty interesting in its handling of the drug trade in L.A. in the late '50's, and of one man's crusade to rid the city of dealers.moreless

I thought that the Dark Vengeance episode had all the elements of suspense and redemption. The John Cosgrove character (Jerome Thor) was blinded by mobsters who were infiltrating Los Angeles with drugs, in this case heroin. He goes to Stu Bailey (Efrem Zimbalist, Jr.) for help in finding the culprits. But little does he know that his trusted secretary Margo Harris (Adele Mara) was once a druggie before she worked at the TV station for Cosgrove. For a time, the drug dealers catch up to her and inject her with heroin to get her back on the "monkey." She feels the effects of the drugs in her system for a while. Later, Cosgrove regains his vision and tries to take out the leader of the mobsters, but Margo comes to the rescue and executes the bad guy. At the end of the episode, Margo bids farewell to Stu, with whom see had been seeing, as she is about to go through rehabilitation. Mara gives a good performance as the drug addicted Margo. Even more interesting, Thor's Cosgrove was effective as a crusdader against the druggies.moreless
