Look really closely at the way Kevin, Lucy, Savannah, Ruthie, and the twins are standing at the very end of the episode when they say "Merry Christmas!" with their bodies and positioning, they actually make an image of a Christmas tree. Kevin stands in the back to symbolize the top of the tree; Lucy, Savannah, and Ruthie are in the middle; and the twins are in front. David gives it away by raising his arms to symbolize the branches.

Annie: I love you. Eric: And I love you. More than ever, Annie. Annie: What's this? What do you have in your hand? Eric: Oh...I don't know... Annie: You don't know? You don't know that this is...this is the pin that my dad gave to my mom when I was born? Eric: She did? Annie: Yes, Eric, she did. Where on Earth did you get this? (Eric stammers) Oh. Oh, Eric, don't. It's okay. I don't want to know where you got it. Just...thank you. Thank you. (hugs him)
Jenny: (trying to convince Eric to give something other than faith to Annie for Christmas) She has faith--she has faith to spare. How could she not, after being married to you all these years?
Jenny: You okay? Eric: I don't know, I'm kinda light-headed. Jenny: Or, maybe light-hearted.
Jenny: (to Eric) Can I tell you something, just between you and me? The internet sucks the life out of time.
This is the final episode to feature recurring star Alice Hirson as Annie's mother Jenny Jackson.
We learn that Stanly Sunday is one of Eric's guardian angels. Eric also meets Martin's mom in his visit to Heaven.
Tyler Hoechlin (Martin) and Haylie Duff (Sandy) do not appear in this episode.
Jenny: This is the happiest place not on earth! This is an allusion to the famous Disneyland saying, "The happiest place on earth!"
Jenny: (giving Eric an example of what can be accomplished when someone has a purpose in life) I mean, just look what happened to Paul Newman when he got purpose. Good Lord, you think he's a big star down there? Why, up here-- I mean big! Really big! Jenny is making an allusion to the film star Paul Newman, and the many philanthropic endeavors he's involved in, aside from his acting career.
When Eric and Jenny go for a carriage ride, a marquee on a theatre in the background reads "The Last Gift". This is an allusion to Eric having asked for his life back, "The Last Gift".
