Episode Recap

Eric is bored watching soaps and sneaking peeks into the fridge. He can't seem to find anything to do. He wants Annie to go and get his computer at the church so he can do some writing.

Annie admits to Eric that his computer has been in the house for weeks and she just forgot to tell him because she's been overwhelmed with running the household.

Cecelia wants Simon to meet her new, French, boyfriend Marc. She wants Marc and Simon to be best friends. Simon is upset by this and thinks that Cecelia is dating Marc to make him jealous, just like she hired Simon to make her old boyfriend jealous.

While shopping with Ruthie, Lucy spots Kevin and Roxanne looking in the window of a jewelry store. Lucy and Ruthie spy on the pair and discover Kevin is asking Roxanne for advice on which ring to buy Lucy. This upsets Lucy.

Kevin and Roxanne know Lucy and Ruthie are following them, so they make a big show of picking out rings. Later he calls Lucy to invite her out to dinner with Roxanne and Lucy declines. Then, he asks Lucy to put Robbie on the phone because he wants to talk to Roxanne.

Robbie asks Roxanne over for dinner and is thrilled when she says yes.

Lou arrives at the Camden house with Chandler, an associate minister hired by the church to help out in Eric's absence. Chandler tries to assure the skeptical Camdens that he's only there to learn about being a minister and to help out where he is needed. He's not there to replace Eric. When Roxanne comes over for her date with Robbie, she meets Chandler and they two seem to have an immediate chemistry.

Gabrielle is a woman hired by the Colonel to help Annie around the house. Gabrielle, a chain-smoking, colorful, ol' gal, asserts herself into the household even though Annie doesn't want her there.

Eric and Annie are furious with Lou for hiring an associate minister without consulting Eric first. When Lou tries to explain, Eric tells him to shut up. When Annie tries to smooth things over, Eric tells her to shut up too. Annie cries in Lou's arms. Meanwhile, Kevin and Lucy discuss her spying and the ring situation. Kevin tells her he'd never ask another woman to help him select her engagement ring.
Later, Gabrielle takes over in the kitchen while Annie is on the phone trying to get the Colonel to send Gabrielle away. Gabrielle spikes the spaghetti sauce with spices and wine. She encourages Eric to eat some (which he says is the best sauce he's ever had) and then pours him some wine. Soon Eric is on the back porch smoking a cigar and drinking wine. Annie talks to Grandma Ruth about Gabrielle for hours.
Cecelia comes over to ask Simon what he thought of Marc. She tells Simon he should get a date so they can all go out. Cecelia says if he can't find a date, she'll get one for him.

Eric apologizes to Annie for losing his temper about Chandler. He tells Annie he's not angry anymore. Eric says he has moved his anger to something better -- playing guitar and singing "Jesus Loves Me" with the twins. Annie looks heavenward and says "this is not good".
