This episode contradicts the season one episode "See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil" where Eric and Annie are dead-set against their kids getting tattoos, yet in this episode, they reveal that they know their kids have tattoos, and also have tattoos themselves.
Eric and Annie each have a have a tattoo on their hip; Eric has a cross and Annie has a heart. Both Lucy and Ruthie have a tattoo on their lower backs; Lucy has a flower design, Ruthie has T-Bone's name and Ruthie's initials are tattooed on T-Bone's outer ankle.
Ruthie: (searching the Bible for "forgiveness" passages to recite to her parents after they find out about her tattoo) Where is the good stuff when you need it?
T-Bone: (when Eric asks what's up between him and Ruthie) It's really kinda personal.
Eric: Yeah, yeah, that's how it felt when I kept seeing you kiss my daughter. It's really...kinda... personal.
Annie: (about Ruthie not coming forward to admit she did something wrong) Why can't Protestants confess? I mean, why do Catholics have to have franchises on that?
Margaret: (about the tattoo Ruthie got on her backside) You told her where to get it!
Jane: I didn't know she'd get what she got where she got it!
Annie: (testing Lucy about what she knows regarding Ruthie's tattoo) And, Lucy, thanks for always being you. You've always been such a good girl. (hugs Lucy) I love you.
Lucy: (realizing her parents know about her tattoo) What else do you know???
Mac: (grinning) This is better than I ever ... (gets serious) I'm sorry.
Annie: What else do we know? Well, we know that children often don't do what you tell them to do, or not to do.
Eric: And, we can't always keep you from making bad decisions.
Lucy: So, you just let us live with the guilt and the shame and the fear that you'd find out?!?
Eric: Pretty much, yeah.
T-Bone: I love you.
Ruthie: Thanks, I love you, too.
T-Bone: Really?
Ruthie: I have to. I have your name permanently engraved on my body.
T-Bone: And, I have your--
Ruthie: (interrupting) My initials!... HIDDEN on your ankle.
Annie: (to Eric about knowing Matt, Mary, and Simon have secret tattoos) Yeah, maybe if they come home more often, we'll let them off the hook. (turning to the mirror with Eric to reveal their tattoos to one another other)
Kevin: Ruthie's pretty smart.
Lucy: Pretty smart? She has a tattoo that says "T-Bone!"
Kevin: (referring to Lucy's tattoo) Why is that worse than flowers across your butt?
David: (to Sam) If a cracker is the body of Christ, I wonder what a cookie is?
Tyler Hoechlin (Martin) does not appear in this episode.
Eric and Annie mention that they know about the tattoos that all five of their kids have.
