Episode Summary

Pilot Episode
The original pilot episode of 7th Heaven that never aired was just like the one that did air with a few minor changes. Many scenes in the original pilot episode were cut. You can tell by the pilot episode that did air. In the first half of the episode, the Camdens' house is very different from usual (especially the kitchen), but in the second half of the episode the Camdens' house (especially the kitchen) is back to what it usually is in most episodes. Some scenes were cut and re-shot again that would fit the pilot that did air. Unless the Camdens had two different kitchens the show was filmed out of sequence.moreless

  • Unaired...

The same plot line was probably used in the aired pilot.

I wish I could've seen this. I don't know where I would find it though. They should've included it in the season 1 DVD set. They should put bonus features in all the DVD sets, but so far they haven't. It would've been interesting to watch this version of the pilot. Even if it just has minor differences, it still would've been cool to see it. I didn't know what to score it, so I gave it a 10 out of 10. Hopefully, they'll include this version in one of their DVD releases.moreless

This episode brings back memorys. I remember watching this for the first time on the WB. Well actually it was Anything you want but there isn't much of a difference. This is a flashback. It's a smart episode. The music and the storyline is much different than all the other ones. At this time they were testing out the show...well thats all about PILOT ones.

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (1)

    • Goof: At the beginning of this episode, when Matt told the younger kids that it was their parents' day to sleep in, they ran out the room and we could see Mary, Lucy and Simon running across the corridor. The next camera shot is on Annie and in the next scene we can again see Mary, Lucy and Simon running across the corridor.

  • QUOTES (0)

  • NOTES (2)

    • Originally there was only a production order of 13 episodes, although as the show became popular, the WB extended that to 22.

    • In the original script of the 'pilot' episode of 7th Heaven, Eric Camden (Stephen Collins) was originally supposed to be a psychologist instead of a minister. Although Brenda Hampton (creator) had to change his occupation by the request of Jamie Kellner (WB co-owner) when the pilot was picked up by the network.
