Matt returns to Glenoak to celebrate his special "secret" 2-year anniversary with Ruthie. She tries to desperately avoid seeing the rest of the family as Matt doesn't want the rest of them to know he's in town. However, when Lucy discovers the secret, she, Eric and Annie go crazy trying to figure out why he's in town. They pay a special visit to the Glass in-laws.

Meanwhile, Martin shares something special with Cecilia about himself when he takes her out on the town. Also, Annie accidentally lets it slip to nurse Kelly that Matt and Sarah are married on the phone. Lastly, Vic invites Paris to spend a special evening with him, but she doesn't want to go because she thinks he might propose---which is exactly his intentions.moreless

Matt comes home to celebrate the anniversary of his real marriage with Ruthie, but he doesn't want people to know he's back. Lucy sees Matt and freaks out! She tells Eric and Annie and they think that he got a divorce, dropped out of medical school, or both. Vic wants to marry Paris. He asks her out to dinner. She saw him buying engagement rings earlier and feels pressure. He lies and says that he was looking for a gift to say "thank you!" Peter then tells her afterward that he really did want to marry her.

This was a great episode! It was great seeing Richard and Rosina again! I like how Matt, Sarah, and Ruthie all share the little secret of their marriage. I really like Vic and Paris together! This episode gets a 10 out of 10!moreless
  • Overall, this episode was terrific. Looking back I think I gave too much credit to last week's episode "Don't Speak Ill of the Dead or the Living" as the more I think about it, the more I didn't like it.moreless

Another February sweeps episode of 7th Heaven has come. Wow, we're now more than halfway through the new episodes! I hope it goes slower cause you know we're gonna pay for it with a ton of repeats to bear in March and April (oh the reruns!). And wow again, this was not a Valentine's episode---or at least not acknowledged one. Although, it might as well been one since a large part of the episode had elements of being one. I really loved this episode. Despite Barry Watson's return being sort of minor in this episode and a good portion of this episode focused on non-Camdens I just can't help but love this episode. I guess I'm in the minority on this one but Peter, Vic, and Paris have all grown on me. Let's break it down

Matt, Ruthie and the nosy ones: Barry Watson (and alter-ego Matt), it's great to have you back man! Wow, again, 3 out of the 5 Camden kids were on the show. It just makes the show better the more Camden kids are in it now. Although I wish the writers brought Matt back on better circumstances. It doesn't seem likely that Matt would fly to celebrate his anniversary with Ruthie when his marriage is in trouble. With his financial condition and the threat of his marriage ending it's more realistic that he'd spend every waking minute in New York trying to sort things out with his wife Sarah. But I guess he needed a break---but still. On another note, what is with Lucy in this episode? She really needs to concentrate more on her school work or get a job, because she really needs a life and to stop being in everyone else business. It was kind of odd and out of character for Eric and Annie to being discussing their children (Matt) in front of Lucy, but I guess now they see as an "adult" they will include her now in their "nosy" family discussions (a term Rabbi Glass said at best about the family being nosy). In most cases it wouldn't be right to come into town and not say "hi' to your family but I can understand Matt's reasons as I even gotta say that the Camdens do get out of control on the spying and I wouldn't go to them either as you know many questions will be going at you on things that is only your business in your personal life. Oh Barry, we love having you on the show. I know we'll be seeing you soon again.

Peter, Vic and Paris: What can I say, I actually like this storyline. I can't help it. I'm sure I'm in the minority on this but I really like Vic. His character is a real change of pace for MOST on the show as being sort of goodie-goodie with problems. He's got attitude, and that's not such a bad thing at all. Although I think he went a little out of line with the waiter. How was he supposed know he was an alcoholic? Other than that Vic is on my top list of favorite recurring characters this season. I guess I loved them in this episode is because the storyline was well-written and well-acted out by the actors and felt pretty real, and that's what's most important to a show in my opinion. I try to focus more on that than how much time did the Camdens have in this episode for each parent and child. Just focusing on that Camdens---or at least what's left of it on the show would get boring after a while. Besides I rather have this storyline on Peter, Paris and Vic than a storyline over the twins with them having a lot of dialogue. UGH, can you imagine right now with them? Sometimes seeing the community in their storylines isn't as bad---I mean this is a multi-generational show and the writers have given time for the viewers to get accustomed to them and see that they can now have their own little storylines that's not directly Camden related. Bue let's get back to the storyline. Honestly, I really thought in the end Paris and Vic would get all lovey-dovey and get engaged or at least start going out. Looking at "7th Heaven"'s history can you blame me? Usually there's some kind of wedding or engagement going on (although I think that happens with couples next week). Luckily, the writers weren't as predictable this time and they are finally letting Paris and Vic take time to continue to reconcile their differences. I mean he's been back for only two months! If Paris and Vic do develop and reconcile please let it be next season! It'll be more realistic on their relationship slowly getting better. Not everyone can rush into relationships and marriages only after a short while of meeting or reconciling.

Martin and Cecilia: Ah, teen love. And I feel sad for Martin. He really does genuinely care for Cecilia, but I think he could do better. I do think she's inheriting some of the not so charming Camden habits of spying and in others business when your not supposed to be (Mac and his friend?). It really seems to be getting serious between the two, as you know when the guy in the relationship is starting to share something personal to you. Wow, and we all thought Simon and Cecilia were gonna be together in the end. It's amazing, we know so much about Martin and his family history already and he's only be on for half a season and Cecilia (Ashlee Simpson) has been on for like a season and half and we don't know as much about her character.

The Others: Once again, why is Roxanne a regular on the show? She should be a recurring character and only be in episodes when she's needed and has a storyline of her own. How unbelievable for her to be a cop and give Lucy a police escort just so she can find out about Matt. Huh!? And Chandler---Ah, he's become Paris' little girlfriend! Hehe! No, just kidding. It's nice that Paris and Chandler are moving past their relationship and remaining friends, since they didn't go together for that long, but it was pretty good between the two of them while it last I might say.

Overall, this episode was terrific. Looking back I think I gave too much credit to last week's episode "Don't Speak Ill of the Dead or the Living" as the more I think about it, the more I didn't like it. I guess I was in denial on how much I didn't like it. Oh well, next weeks episode looks pretty good, even though a lot seems to focus a lot on non-Camdens again, but I'm starting to get used to it. At least Annie's sister is coming back again----and also the long awaited death of Annie's father Charles seems to be coming. See ya next week!

    Grade: **9.5 out of 10**

    Rants and Bits:
*Debi Mazar, Richard Lewis and Laraine Newman---come back anytime. You are also on my top list of favorite recurring characters.

*Even though I think Catherine could still look a lot better, her going back to straight hair in this episode was an improvement over the freezy hair in past few episodes.

*Thank you so much Jeremy London. You finally got out of the '80s and cut off that mullet!

*Maybe a good reason why I like this episode more was that neither of the twins had any dialogue in this episode. We only saw them tossing a dodge ball to each other. I hate to say this but---Good! Keep them not talking.

*Even though I should of felt upset once again that Kevin acknowledged in this episode that Lucy is "nuts" all the time I couldn't help but feel the same and agree with him. Speaking of them----writers, please more newlywed storylines for the two!moreless

    • Barry Watson only has scenes with Mackenzie Rosman in this episode.

    • The license plate number for Roxanne and Kevin's police car is 9999982.

    • Reply: *On the message to the Rabbi*, Rabbi Glass did not know Kevin. If Lucy said she was Lucy Kinkirk, Rabbi would not know who she was. Plus, it is common for married people to keep and use their maiden names in some situation, such as college classes.

    • In response to Matt not being able to afford a plane ticket to Glen Oak: Mary is a flight attendant for JetBkue Airlines - she has gotten "buddy tickets" for other family members before, so I would think she would too get one for her beloved brother. Besides, even if she didn't, assuming Matt flew JetBlue, the tickets for that airline are really cheap most of the time.

    • Response to Ruthie & Matt celebrating: When a certain repeating event (or going-to-happen event) was not aired, it doesn't mean that the event did not happen. In episode 5x14: V-Day, it was mentioned that Annie would show a video tape of her mother to the twins every Valentine's Day. We've never seen it happen since then, but it doesn't mean that it did not happen.

    • If Ruthie and Matt celebrating their anniversary this year, what happened to last year, which was the first anniversary of Matt and Sarah getting married and Ruthie knowing about it?

    • When Cecilia and Martin were walking out on the street it looked like Cecilia was wearing a microphone to talk.

    • In episode 11 (When Bad Conversations Happen to Good People) Matt revealed he was having financial problems living in New York City. How is it that he's able to fly to Glen Oak, despite his financial situations?

    • NITPICK: You would think after what Simon went through last year over accidently killing a kid with a car you'd think members in his family like Lucy would drive more cautiously. And Simon wasn't even speeding when the accident happened!

    • Before Paris goes to the bathroom she says when she comes back, they'll have dessert. But when the waitress comes by Vic just asks for the check and says they're done for the night.

    • On the message to the Rabbi, Lucy said she was Lucy Camden and not Lucy Kinkirk.

    • When Vic was at the jewelry store picking out a ring---the rings were out all alone in display for Vic to pick up and easily to steal for anyone. Wouldn't nice rings like that be locked up and only opened when a jeweler takes it out a glass display case and shows it to the customer?

  • QUOTES (8)

    ADD QUOTES
    • Roxanne to Lucy: "Sorry Luce." Lucy to Roxanne: "Not as sorry as Kevin's gonna be!"

    • Kevin: (to Lucy) If Matt and Sarah split up, that doesn't mean that we're going to split up. You can't keep Matt and Sarah together if they need to be apart. Matt and Sarah are going to do what's best for them, and we're going to do what's best for us. And as far as I'm concerned, that's staying together till death do us part.

    • Lucy to Kevin: "He's a newlywed and were newlyweds"

    • Kevin to Lucy: "Are you going to tell why you acted the way you did today about Matt?"

    • Vic to himself (tattoing his arm): "Vic loves Paris...and why should she?" Matt to Ruthie: "I just wanted to slip in and slip out without having to answer a bunchof questions, was that too much to hope for?" Ruthie to Matt: "In our family? Absoultely." Annie to Nurse Kelly (on the phone): "I don't know. You carry them for nine months, you feed them , you teach them to walk and talk, how to ride a bike. You nusre their broken bones, their broken hurts, you send them to school. And they show up back in town and they don't even bother to come and see you." Nurse Kelly to Annie: "Matt's a good kid and he's gonna be a good doctor. He cares, and that's more than I can say about most of the ones who come through here." Nurse Kelly to Annie: "I think you and your husband raised a great kid and that should give you all the peace of mind you need."

    • Peter to Paris: "Mom, Vic's my dad. But you, you're my family."

    • Lucy to Kevin: "So it was kinda nuts today." Kevin to Lucy: "Don't take this the wrong way, but you're kinda nuts all the time."

    • Kevin to Lucy: "We're going out?" Lucy to Kevin: "No. I'm going out. With my dad." Kevin to Lucy: "Matt? (suspiciously)...Lucy?" Lucy to Kevin: "Kevin? (to Eric) I'll drive!"

    • Paris to Peter: "So you wanna go to Home Depot with me to buy wood and nails for the garage."
Paris asks Peter if she wants to go to Home Depot with her to buy materials for the garage. Home Depot is chain hardware store located in many places across the United States. It's a store for building materials and accessories.

    • Peter to Paris: "He's just like Emeril, he even goes 'Bam!'
Peter is talking to his mom Paris on how his dad makes him pancakes. He compares his father Vic to Emeril LaGassi who is a famous chef who has his own TV show on the Food Network and is famous for his catch phrase of saying "Bam!" when he throws something into the pot.
