  • Eric's heart surgery.

    9.5
    "Superb"
Eric has his operation while everyone waits in the hospital. Ruthie doesn’t want to go to the hospital because Eric lied to her. Sarah takes Ruthie to the promenade and Ruthie talks to a friend of Sarah’s who hasn’t spoken to her dad in 5 years. Ruthie decides to go to the hospital. Simon talks to Detective Michaels about what he went through when he dropped off the baby. Lucy says that she is ready to get married. Kevin doesn’t ask her, but says he will surprise and he wants Eric’s blessing first. Lou says that they have no one to fill in at the church so Rabbi Glass does. Ben comes back to see Eric. Annie is worried about Eric. Eric dreams that he is Elvis and sings various Elvis songs.

This was a good episode. I’m glad that Ruthie finally realized that she wasn’t really angry and went to the hospital. I’m glad Simon let what he had inside go. I’m very happy that the surgery went well and that Eric’s okay. I do think that Kevin was romantic in asking for Eric’s permission to marry Lucy. It was good to see Sarah since we haven’t seen her since season 6. This was a great episode and I give it a 9.5!

I thought this episode as a whole was above average. I liked the reaction of the family members to Eric's surgery. Ruthie was very realistic, she was hurt because she was lied to, I like the introduction of Sarah's friend to help her. It was a little unrealistic that Matt couldn't miss or postpone his school stuff for his father's surgery, things like that are done every day. Mary being MIA is typical for her at times, but not to be there for her father was unbelievable. In the notes someone had mentioned that Eric's parents, sister and brother-in-law weren't there, Hank showed up at the bowling alley in the previous episode to see if he was okay I can't believe he wouldn't be at the hospital. Overall it was a good episode, except the whole Elvis thing, I would have preferred to see more of the family dealing with the surgery than that.
