  • great episode showing the possible futures of both sisters.

i think this episode shows great insight to what bridget and kerry may end up doing in later life. as we never find out because the show ends without any real closing.

bridget ends up wanting to go into something else that may not have her parents approval. although paul has signed it. bridget showing again how smart she is when it comes to manipulation. not always a good thing but funny to watch children :p

and paul again being the clueless parent manages to put his foot in it and give sketches of the principal in a non flattering way to the principal! with kerry in trouble he tries to make it up to her while sorting it out with bridget.

a charming episode. both girls seem to have changed slightly to the end of it.
  • An average enjoyable episode.

This episode was really fun to watch, but it didn't stick out as much as the others. Still, very clever.

    PROS:

    1) It had a great plot to it! Bridget wants to drop out of her college prep courses because she wants to work with make up and skin. But her parents, especially Paul, objects to the idea.

    2) Its main theme is basically 'acceptance.' I think that its hard for a show to come up with a good episode on being accepted for who someone is, but 8 simple rules nailed it!

    3) Kerry's 'incredibly boring woman' comics were quite enjoyable, not the most enjoyable, but I loved how in the end Kerry had to paint posters for school that went against her animal rights, or something. XD

    CONS:

    1) I said that Kerry's 'incredibly boring woman' comics were funny, but it wasn't the greatest idea ever.

    Pretty good episode!

I love the opening of this episode, with the bait and distract or whatever... It was hilarious! I loved it, with Kerry, "Dad, do you notice anything different about me?" Haha!

Then there was Rory's secret box! I loved it! How Kate was trying to respect it, but finally they break down. But of course Rory's smart... Haha! LMAO.

Poor Kerry! I can't believe they showed them all her sketch book! Then she has to make the posters for the pep rally, it's the worst punishment...

However, this was a pretty good episode, if just for the beginning and the Paul's bear cub/leaving the nest comment.

  • Acceptance is the major theme in this episode.

Funniest part of the episode is when Bridget & Kerry confuse and distract Paul so he signs Bridget's permission slip without reading it. Turns out it’s to drop subjects at school that she needs for college.

Paul finds out and is mad, but not as much as when she says she wants to work as a beautician. Cate is supportive because Bridget has actually done all this herself and looked into it. As she puts it "she's focusing on something other than herself and boys".

Paul struggles to be accepting and Cate tells him about how the previous generation isn’t always so wise.

I found it particularly interesting to see Rachel Bilson as the "hot girl" waiting outside the principals office. The whole Rory staring at her whilst she ignores him blowing bubble gum is pretty funny. I didn't realise this was her first TV spot, its a tiny part, but a starts a start.
