  • Enough Already

    5.0
Since 8 Simple Rules was produced by Touchstone which was owned by Disney it was a matter of time they use the Freaky Friday plotline. So Cate switches with Bridget no big surprise. CJ with Grandpa but Rory with a hamster? Thats embarrassing just for the cheap joke of hamsterbating. And since it was all of a dream by Cate why would she dream that about her son? It would be alright if Rory sisters would dream that but not his mother. Ever since the death of John Ritter the show was never the same. It didn't surprise me that they canceled the show.moreless

I love this episode, it's funny, cool and just the thing that I love to look at. But there was one point that I though that it was a little inapropriate but still my third favorite 8 simple rules and my favorite part of this episode is when Rory was stuck in his hamsters body and was running on the treadmill and me and my friends admidiatly started to laugh out loud because of the faces of the charecters and how they made Rory go so fast it was so hilarious. So I totally recamend this to someone who loves to laugh and adores to watch a comedy about a funny family!moreless
  • This is the first episode of 8 Simple Rules and I thought it was pretty good.

    9.1
Well for my first episode I thought the show was a quirky little sitcom. I didn't know David Spade was part of the cast. The episode was okay on a count of it was a remake of the movie Freaky Friday. I liked the family alot the control, and classical family mom wanting to be normal and raise her chlildren right. Then the son who is an average male teenager I guess. Then two daughter's one who seems to be the more "date" kind of girl and the other is the "my life is unfair". Then C.J. is a unique touch to the show. Very funny as David Spade's parts usually are. Then the grampa is a funny one. He has some great sarcastic answers. The episode was an average one for a sitcom I guess. Rory switched with his hampster, pretty funny. Bridget and the mom switched which was okay. And C.J. and the grandpa switched places which was pretty good. Then the other daughter unfortunatly didn't switch places...Sorry.moreless
  • A great episode! But I just found the acting to be a little weak in some cases.

    8.9
Sorry! I can be a major movie/episode critic! One thing that nags me the most however, is when the acting is cruddy. The acting wasn't terrible in this, but some parts seemed quite phony indeed.

    PROS:

    1) I liked the idea! Everyone switching around! I loved that Rory traded places with the hamster! And Kerry was left out, so she was mad at being left out in the dream (seems a little silly, but definatly Kerry's character)

    2) The thing with an inspector being there was funny! It made things more stressful and humorous!

    3) There were quite a few funny things in this episode!

    CONS:

    1) Cate woke up, and it was all a dream. Sorry, but I can't stand it when they end movies/episodes this way! It seems so uncreative and boring!

    2) Well, I found the actress who played Cate to be a little weak at points. Like the part where they were in Kerry/Bridget's room and she was acting like Bridget saying "What are we going to do?!" That wasn't her strongest acting there.moreless
  • So funny, well-written, cleverly plotted, and definitely one of the best.

This episode, "Freaky Friday", is about Cate not understand Bridget's feelings about not wanting to go to the dance with a dorky guy she promised to go out with. Cate ends up watching family movie night alone as they wake up the next morning revealing Cate and Bridget switching bodies, Grandpa Jim and CJ switching bodies, and Rory and his hamster. Kerry ends up to be the only one who doesnt' swtich bodies, and starts to find it a little appealing.

This episode is not just funny, but well-written, cleverly plotten and is one of the best ever.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (2)

    • Cate says that she doesn't know how "Freaky Friday" ended, but seeing as how she's in her 40s, it's highly likable that she saw the movie before.

    • When Kate comes in with the DVD 'Freaky Friday' for family movie night, she sets it down on a side table. When she sits down to watch the movie, the movie plays despite the fact that she never put in the DVD.

  • QUOTES (25)

    • Cate: Rory, you have to ask me before you bring someone else's unwanted vermin into our house.
Rory: You didn't ask us before C.J. moved in.

    • (Bridget waking up in Cate's body)
Cate/Bridget: Why am I on the couch? And why am I, like, wearing Mom's clothes? (freaked out) And why do they fit? (realizes) Oh my god! I'm my mother! (calling) Mom! I mean, me!

    • Cate as Bridget: (to "Cate") You are not walking around this school like some sort of hussy.
Kerry: (to "Bridget") Yeah, Mom, you don't want to ruin Bridget's bad reputation.
      (Kerry leaves)
Bridget as Cate: Well, at least I'm still a virgin!

    • Grandpa Jim: (in C.J.'s body) Stand back, Grandpa's gonna do a backflip.

    • Inspector: First of all, I don't 'Jitter-bug' and if I did I wouldn't do it with you.
Granpda Jim: (In C.J.'s body) Oh come on! I won a trophy in 1949!

    • Inspector: What were you doing with that young man?
Bridget: (In Cate's body) Nothing thanks to you!

    • (Hearing noises from above)
      Kerry: What is that?
Coach: Rory Hennessey! He got up in the air ducts and we can't get him down!

    • Cate: (In Bridget's body) I have every intention of keeping my promise of going to the dance with you.
      Dwayne: Honestly? Really?
Cate: That is all I committed to right?
Dwayne: (In a disappointed tone) Yeah...

    • Bridget: Have you asked anyone to the dance yet?
      Justin: No.
Bridget: Well then the choice is obvious! You have to ask the hottest girl in school!
      Justin: Tiffany Jacobs?
      Bridget: WHAT!?

    • Grandpa Jim: (In C.J.'s body) Race you upstairs!
C.J.: (In Grandpa Jim's body) This is going to be a bust.

    • Bridget: (In Cate's body) Fine, I'll be the world's suckiest nurse and get you fired!
Cate: (In Bridget's body) Fine, then I'll just have to make out with Dorky Dwyane McDougle in front of the whole school!
Kerry: This switch could be very interesting!

    • Bridget: (In Cate's body) Why am I wearing mom's clothes? And why do they fit?!

    • Bridget: The Spring Fling is like the most important dance of the year!
      Kerry: What about Prom?
Bridget: Okay, Prom then Spring Fling.

    • C.J.: I'm going to help [Grandpa Jim] pick out an outfit for tomorrow. You know, something that says 'Korean war' but still kind of hip.

    • Dwayne: Ciao for now.

    • Bridget: (in Cate's body, referring to her body's large breasts): God, Mom, how do you walk around with these things?

    • Cate: (in Bridget's body) It's mom!
      Kerry: Oh yeah, prove it.
Cate: (in Bridget's body) The square root of nine is three.
      Kerry: (gasps) Mom!?

    • Kerry: You always bend the rules for Bridget! This is so unfair! God, I hate my life! Don't anybody talk to me!!
Cate: It's so good to be back.

    • Cate: You know the weirdest thing is that Rory switched places with his hampster. And Rory did everything the hampster does and the hampster did everything Rory does. (they look at the hampster) Oh my God, what is he doing?
      Bridget: I think he's hampsterbating.

    • (Talking about the Hamster).
      Kate: What is he doing?
      Bridgette: I think he's Hamsterbating.

    • Bridget (in Cate's body) to Keri: Oh yeah! At least I'm still a virgin!!

    • Rory (in the Hampster's body) Mom! Something's not right! And my water's empty!!!

    • CJ (in Jim's body): I'm you! With your bad back, knobby knees, and (looks in his pants)...
Jim (in CJ's body): You got nothin to complain about now sonny boy...

    • Kerri: This body switch might end up being kind of fun in the end...

    • Kerri: Mom, you need to wake up Rory.
Cate (in Bridgette's body): I'm mom!
Bridgette (in Cate's body): I'm Bridgette!
Kerri: Like I didn't have enough to talk about in therapy....

  • NOTES (2)

  • ALLUSIONS (1)

    • Bridget: "I think he's hampsterbating."
This is a reference to a previous episode entitled "C.J.'s Temptation," in which Rory developes an "interesting" new hobby.
