  • I love this episode! It is one of my favorites for season one!

This episode has it all; it has character development, great humor and an excellent plot. Everyone in the family has to give up something they love, and the last person standing gets to decide where the family goes for a vacation. Cate has to give up coffee, Rory has to give up tattling, Paul has to give up the TV remote, Bridget has to give up the phone, and Kerry has to give up being sarcastic. It was well written, the way everything flowed together. And then there was character devolpment in Kerry when Paul finds out that Kerry isn't as happy as he thought, or something like that. XD Overall, this is a great episode, i really thought they did a good job on this one. Its a series classic.

It was a great episode and a great example of 8 simple rules! it was one of my favorites! it was ha - ha - ha - larious! one of my favorite parts was when Kerry locked her brother Rory (most of the time refered to as the boy) outside all night in only his under pants! And the thing was that Rory couldn't tell on her if he wanted to go to the american space museum! another one of my favorite parts was when Bridget was on the phone with Kyle and she heard her mom coming so she threw the phone in the dryer so her Cate wouldn't see! But overall it was great!
  • This was an awesome episode for a family show.

I have not yet watched every single episode in the entire series, but I bet that this is probably the best episode. It took away the focus of Kerry and Bridget dating, going out to parties, and their other problems that get them into trouble and focused on something more family oriented. This episode was flawless and I saw no single area in the episode for any need of improvement whatsoever. It could not be any better than it is. It was the perfect episode for a family show. The ideas of it were well organized and thought out and it was creatively and cleverly written to appeal to viewers better than any episode ever did before. It had that magic touch to it that put the icing on the cake. I just loved it. Each member of the family wanted to go on a different vacation. So they had a contest where they each gave up something that they do all the time, and the last person who does not cave is the winner and gets to choose the family vacation. This episode was intense and full of suspense. It kept my eyes glued to the screen. I was desperate to see what would happen and who would win. They all tried to tempt each other into doing what they were giving up, and the way they did it was devious and mean. But without it, this couldn't really have been an episode because there would have been no contest. The part at the end though was kind of unexpected but was still good. It was where Paul finds out that Kerry is being sarcastic to cover up and hide her happiness. Kerry gets upset and runs upstairs to her room, and Paul goes up with her to have a talk with her to sort things out back to normal again. This was an awesome episode and I will probably think this is the best episode in the entire series after I watch all the episodes.

this episode really really made me laugh!! i know that 8 simples rules is somewhat of a comedy but there is never an episode which can be totally humourous all the way through cause there is normal a more serious moral plot to it but this was a silly episode that rocked!!

all the family must give up there bad habits and the winner (the one who survives the week without doing it or whoever is left after everyone else fails) gets to decide where they are going on holiday

it was really funny watching them all fail at some point but the only sad bit was paul realising that kerry isn't as happy as he thought. it must be hard for parent to realise his kid is the happy lil go lucky kid they thought but actually has problems. she's finally grown up.
  • A good episode.

This episode starts really funny, with everyones worst habits being reveiled through Paul wanting to say something important. I love the fact that this episode isn't that serious about them giving up something until the end. It makes it funny in the fact that everyone tries to give it up yet they cant and eventually everyone gives in to temptation and everyone is out except Paul and Kerry. The ideas that people come up with for their vacation are so representative of their personalities its awesome. I'm glad that eventually Kerry wins because she made such a big deal about it and chose the cabin by the lake.
  • I swear family competition is just one of the best things that can ever happen in a family show.

I swear family competition is just one of the best things that can ever happen in a family show.

first of all I loved the fact that it was fought over something as trivial as where to vacation. Secondly I enjoyed the paradoxcal fact that Rory knew of Cate and Bridget\'s alliance but could not tell his dad without being ejected from the game. In addition I enjoyed the sympathy at the end when Paul gives up seeing as how Kerry got upset. This episode has everything I want in a family show piled into some 20 minutes. gotta love it!!
