Bridget and Paul are surprised to find themselves in similar situations when they are both alienated in their social circles. But they devise a plan to settle the score, leading Paul to crash a poker game with co-worker Tommy (Larry Miller) to get closer to boss Nick (Patrick Warburton), and Bridget trying to break up ex-boyfriend Kyle and her nemesis, Jenna.moreless
  • Pretty good, but not the greatest.

Well, it wasn't the most enjoyable episode ever, but I still found it good.

    PROS:
    1) The plot was quite good. How Bridget's life felt like it was being stolen by this other girl at her school, and Paul finds that he's in a similar situation with Bridget. And he goes to Bridget for advice on this.
    2) It was quite funny too!
    3) I liked how Rory wanted to go to the hospital with his mom instead of work with his dad. I found it funny how Cate won him over with going to the hospital with "student nurses and bloody guys."

    CONS:
    1) Some of Paul's co-workers seemed pretty rude towards Paul. He may not be a sports writer anymore, but that doesn't mean they should be all bitter towards him.

It was pretty good, but not the best.moreless

Queen Bees and King bees is a very funny episode showing us that Bridget misses her ex-boyfriends Kyle and that Paul misses his old career as a sports writer. This episode was well written and very very funny. In my opinion this is one of the best episodes from the first season of 8 simple rules. It was also really funny that Rory wanted to go to the hospital were his Mom works instead of going to the newspaper were his dad works. Kerry is also funny in the episode at the end when Bridget and Paul are crying and she just starts crying for no reason. Overall: A hilarious episode.moreless

    • (About Kyle) Tommy: Great kid, looks nothing like me but a great kid. Nick: Well he's made my Jenna happy. Tommy: Already?

    • Cate: Bridget, are you thinking what I'm thinking? Bridget: Yea but I don't think we would ever get away with it.

    • Cate: Rory you want to come to the hospital with me? Paul: Or to the newspaper with me. Big presses, jelly donuts... Rory: Don't make me choose between… Cate: Student nurses, bloody guys. Rory: Hospital!

    • Bridget: I can't believe this. I'm going to be an outcast like daddy. Paul: Bridget! I am not an outcast! Bridget: How was Nick's party? Paul:(imitating Bridget) How are Jenna and Kyle?

    • Jenna: Hello Bridget. (Bridget doesn't say anything) Paul: (whispering to Bridget) Speak, boss' daughters. Bridget: Hello Jenna, sit on any couches lately? Jenna: What-ever (Bridget gasps)

    • Bridget: I hate that Jenna. She's evil! Yesterday she was like I love your vintage jacket it's so you. So today I see her and she was wearing the same jacket. Like she's stealing my soul or something! God, she is so petty.

    • Kyle: Hey Papa H. Paul: Kyle, what are you doing here? Tommy: He could ask you the same thing.

    • Paul: I'll have you know I am still a vital part of the Detroit Post. There is marketing research where readers say the only reason they buy the paper is to read my column. Rory: You mean those forms you have me fill out? Paul: Besides that. Cate: You mean the forms you had me fill out? Paul: Besides that.

    • Cate: Bridget, are you thinking what I'm thinking? Bridget: Yeah, but I don't think we'd ever get away with it. Cate: I meant, aren't you the one that's being petty? Bridget: We weren't thinking the same thing at all.

    • Paul: It's like a girls mafia. Bridget: There's no such thing as a girls mafia. Just a highly structured secret society with a set of rules and severe consequences. Kerry: There's a secret society? Bridget: No.

    • Bridget: Daddy, I need to check my e-mail. Paul: Sweetheart, I'm working. Bridget: Is that more important than your family? At the end of your life are you going to think back, "If I only had more time to work." Paul: No, I'm thinking that right now.

    • Bridget: Never presume because when you presume you press you to me. Eww, that doesn't work.

    • Bridget: I assumed... Paul: Never assume, because if you assume, you make an ass out of you and me.

    ADD NOTES
    • When aired on The Disney Channel, in the UK, this episode was aired in it's full. Unlike on ABC, the full intro and 'The Godfather' spoof were shown.

    • Re-aired: Monday, June 30, 2003 at 9:30 p.m. E/P on ABC's special 8 Simple Rules Monday Comedy Showcase.

    • There's a shortened opening sequence that only shows the doormat reading "8 Simple Rules For Dating My Teenage Daughter" and not the normal sequence with the members of the Hennessey family opening the door.

    • The reason for the shortened opening sequence is ABC aired a brief War with Iraq update. ABC also did not air the tag scene for this episode in which Bridget and Rory were in a The Godfather spoof.

    • Tape Date: Friday, March 7, 2003.
