Mrs. Travail (about Ted Boone): Artists are capable of anything.

Boone (about Amy): She outgrew me.

Amy (to Boone in flashback): You'll never get either one of us back.

Carella: Have you ever met Amy Boone? Mrs. Phelps: Yes. Carella: How did she strike you? Mrs. Phelps: I don't see that my opinion matters.

Amy (to Mrs. Phelps in flashback): I always say you can have fun wherever you are.

[flashback sequence] Amy: A few lines give a woman character. Mrs. Phelps: What would you know about character?

Carella: Mrs. Phelps, we'd like to talk to your husband alone. Mrs. Phelps: It's time to go out and feed the dogs anyway.

Phelps: I was nowhere near that liquor store. Carella: Then where were you?

Phelps (to Carella and Meyer): I have faults. Bad faults. But I don't go around killing people.

Kyros (about Phelps): That old goat. Lose him. Amy: I can't. He's my employer.

Kling: What would a girl like that see in a pool hustler? Havilland: For one thing, he claims she shot a mean game of pool.

Meyer (to Phelps): Don't let us put a damper on your party.
