Dixon: Excuse me. Is this journalism class?
Navid: Yes, it is, Dixon Wilson, newly arrived from Wichita, Kansas, brother of Annie and also the son of the new principal Harrison Wilson. I'm Navid. I covered your story. I kept the whole adoption angle out. Figured that could be its own piece. People, they eat that crap up.
Dixon: Okay.
Navid: Anyway, you can sit right here. Jeremy's out all week with pink-eye, so just, uh, watch where you put your hands. So, anyway, I hear you're trying out for lacrosse team.
Dixon: Okay.
Navid: I may cover it, but I can't promise any photos. Just watch out for Ethan Ward; he's the star player. You'll know him when you see him. He's the one with the spotlight shining out of his ass.
-
Dixon: But still, it's gonna be a lot easier out here for you. I mean come on. You're a cute girl. Dudes are gonna be throwing themselves at you.
Annie: Oh, please. You had, like, a million friends.
Dixon: There. Back home. And they all knew, you know? About the whole adoption story. Just don't want to have to tell my story over and over and over again.
Annie: Then don't. All they need to know is that you're my brother. That's my story.
-
Annie: Aren't you a little freaked out starting over at a new school? And, like, a week late?
Dixon: What are you worried about? You already got, like, a boyfriend out here.
-
Debbie: There's a lot of temptation here. I'm concerned about how it's gonna affect the kids.
-
Harry: You have been amazing with this whole change.
Debbie: Why wouldn't I be? I've lived in Kansas my entire life. If I don't try something new now, when will I? And besides, they still get married in L.A., right?
Harry: Yeah.
Debbie: Plenty of weddings for me to shoot.
-
Annie: Dad, I still can't believe you grew up in a house like this.
Dixon: I can't believe you ever left.
Debbie: Well, I can.
Harry: The ship has landed.
Annie: Come on, you can see Britney's house from here.
-
Ethan: So. Hi. Uh, how's your day going?
Annie: Apparently not as good as yours.
Ethan: Yeah, listen. I want to explain.
Annie: You don't need to explain a thing.
Ethan: No, I feel like I do. If you're gonna tell Naomi...
Annie: I'm not gonna tell her. I'm not gonna tell anybody.
Ethan: Wow, that's really cool. Look, I'm not that guy.
(Naomi appears)
Naomi: What guy? Can't get enough from this guy.
(Naomi kisses Ethan)
Ethan: See you around, Annie.
-
Dixon: This sucks.
Debbie: Dixon, how about a new phrase, like "this bites" or "this blows"? Because you've been saying "this sucks" for the last 1,500 miles.
Dixon: 'Cause it sucks.
-
Harry: Your mother and I have given up a lot for this move, too.
Annie: Really? Have you given up your boyfriend and the lead in the school play?
Harry: As a matter of fact, I have. He's heartbroken about it, and so am I.
Annie: You're such a dork!
-
Annie: Grandma!
Dixon: You know I've seen one of her old movies on Showtime the other night, right?
Annie: She's got a lot of movies on TV.
Dixon: She was naked, full frontal.
-
Tabitha: You wanna help? Go yell at the gardener for parking his crap wagon in my driveway.
Debbie: Actually, that's our crap wagon, Tabitha.
Tabitha: Well, then park it around the corner so the neighbors won't notice.
-
George: Narc.
Ryan: That's real nice, George. That's yet another girl who's never gonna go out with you.
-
Ryan: Can anybody tell me the capital of Kansas? Nobody knows the capital of Kansas? Okay, that's great. All right, who was the little guy with the one name from Superbad?
Students: McLovin.
Ryan: Yes. Amazing. Everybody knows McLovin. Nobody has any clue that Topeka is the capital of Kansas.
-
Silver: I'm Silver.
Annie: Silver?
Silver: Well, you can call me Erin, but I'm not gonna respond. So, look, I wasn't planning on making you feel welcome here, but then I saw the sticker, and I thought "hey, maybe the principal's daughter isn't such a big loser after all."
-
Tracy: Ironic, isn't it, Harry? If things had happened differently, we'd be talking about our kid.
-
Tabitha: Did you kick his ass?
Harry: Mom.
Tabitha: What? That's not the first thing you thought of when you heard he was in a fight? Then, maybe that's why he lost.
Dixon: I didn't lose.
Tabitha: Never worry about being fair. Just grab on to those jewels and twist them like a garbage bag.
Harry: Mom!
-
Harry: (to Dixon) Look, I'm gonna talk to your coach tomorrow. We'll get this all worked out.
Debbie: And make sure he's not too rough on our baby.
Annie: Yeah, 'cause he is such a delicate flower.
-
Adrianna: I love that dress.
Naomi: Oh, you know me, Adrianna. Early birthday present to myself from myself.
-
Ryan: How'd you get up here?
Naomi: I could ask the same question about you. You're just a teacher. Didn't the cover charge eat up your month's salary?
Ryan: You should try applying some of that caustic wit to your term paper that's due tomorrow.
Naomi: Actually, it's done. I decided it was better to do it than to fight it.
Ryan: Well, I cannot wait to read that masterpiece.
Naomi: You know, why are you always so mean to me?
Ryan: Who says I'm being mean? (to bartender) She's underage. Don't serve her. (to Naomi) Oh, I guess that was mean.
-
Harry: Can I call you a cab?
Tracy: Oh, I have a better idea. Why don't you drive me home?
Debbie: Or even better, I could drive you home and we could swap stories about Harry's penis.
Tracy: I have enough of my own. Thank you.
-
Annie: If I hurt your feelings by sitting with someone you don't like, then I'm sorry.
Silver: It's not that I don't like her. I hate her. Naomi is the antichrist.
Annie: Well, the antichrist didn't trash me in front of half a million people. You did.
-
Kelly: Silver, how many times have we had a talk about this blog of yours? All it does is cause problems.
Silver: Yeah, well, that's what blog's supposed to do. Cause problems. You know, you can't make me stop. It's not like it's a school activity or...
Kelly: Okay, I'm not talking to you as the guidance counselor right now. I am talking to you as your sister.
Silver: Okay, then as my sister you know what Naomi did and why I hate her.
Kelly: Yes, but this didn't hurt Naomi. It hurt Annie. Come on. You've got to let go of that anger. It's not doing you any good. You don't want to end up like mom.
-
Silver: Maybe Ethan isn't even going to be here. Maybe they broke up already.
Annie: Either way I have to apologize to him.
Dixon: And plus if she already confronted him about it, I have to take the rap for it. Either way we're going to have to tell them.
Annie: It's the right thing to do.
Silver: Do you guys go to church or something?
-
Annie: You sound like a spoiled brat.
Naomi: Well you sound like a little bitch.
-
Annie: It's like the Oscars and everyone is Scarlett Johansson.
Dixon: You say that like it's a bad thing.
-
Annie: Aren't you a little freaked out?
Dixon: I think it's going to be alright.
-
Annie: How could you do that to my brother? How could you lie like that?
Ethan: It's not that simple.
Annie: It is! My god, you... You lie, you cheat on your girlfriend. A girl who, by the way, I like. Do you remember what I told you I liked about you the first time we met?
Ethan: That I was frighteningly honest.
Annie: Yeah, I guess I'm just wondering what the hell happened to that guy that I liked from a couple summers ago. Because this new one is an ass.
-
Kelly: You know what Beverly Hills people are like.
Harrison: Exactly why I moved to Kansas.
