It's currently being re-run on Paramount and I absolutely adore it. You are not alone.

Yay! I watch it on paramount 2 too. M'dad doesn't like it as much as I do so I have to convince him to watch it each night... but it's def. worth it. One of my favourite characters is The police officer that Hugh Laurie plays. Who do you like in it the most?

I love British comedy. It started with Python, course. Then Black Adder, the Young Ones, Bottom, French and Saunders, AbFab, League of Gentlemen, Red Dwarf, and on and on. I've heard of Jeeves and Wooster (or Wooster & Jeeves), which both actors are in, but I've never heard of this show. Could you tell me more about it. I don't get Paramount so if it sounds good I may just buy it if available.

What do you think of Hugh on House?

Hugh is ace as House. Jeeves and Wooster is brilliant too.

A bit of Fry and Laurie is hilarious. Think 'Little Britain' with older stereotypes. There are lots of comedy sketches, many of the caracters are used in more than one episode but there are also new characters brought in too - all played by Hugh and Stephen of course. They have guests too and a studio audience. They take the mick out of their guests every single time.

Hugh does some wicked parodies of different styles of song. One of the funniest is when the lyrics consist of Hugh just repeating "America" over and over before changing to the "The States" and then going back to "America" - Stephen knocks him out to get him to stop.

One of my favourite sketches is one which could have been just funny if Hugh had stayed in the character he was portraying, instead it was absolutely hilarious because Hugh kept coming out of character and talking to the camera. He would stop Stephen just as he was about to say his line and turn to the camera and say something along the lines of "Oh oh! This part is brilliant... [Stephen says his line]... Oh, no, it wasnt that bit." He repeats this several times and each time Stephen is getting more wound up until eventually it gets to the part that Hugh is on about and Stephen just says his lines plainly. Hugh turns to the camera with a weird grin on his face and says that he'd done it better in rehearsals.

A bit of Fry and Laurie hasn't been offically released on DVD but I've seen it for sale on ebay (people have recorded it off the TV and put it on to DVD). There are also sites on the internet where you can download it too. Both options I think may be a little illegal but they are your only options if you want to see this must see show. I don't think the BBC will ever release it on DVD - more fool them.

Wow, pretty complete report. The comparison to "Little Britain" is lost on me, but it's been on my list for a little while. The description of the Hugh Laurie going out of character sketch made me laugh. I'll definitely put this on my "want if ever comes out list." Thanks again for the info. Also if you haven't seen it "Black Adder" may be something you like.

I'm partial to BA II, III, IV, V, and the Cristmas special. Okay that's most of it. BA I was still figuring out the charaters, and Rowan's choice for voice hit a pitch that literally hurts my ears. Allright it was still funny.

I love this show, and have since I first saw it. My favourites are the over-the-top acting in the "Peter & John" sketches, and the stilted acting in the "Tony & Control" sketches.

By the way, there is no Blackadder 5. There are 4 series, a Christmas Special, and a "Millennium" Special.

I love the Peter and John sketches but I can't work out for the life of me where the accents they are putting on are supposed to come from. Any ideas?

Re: the post about being released on DVD; I think that Season 1 will be out on Region 2 (mostly Europe; no US or Australia for sure) in April.

Also, just wanted to add that I adore this show as well; some highlights for me are Hugh's musical numbers (I died laughing for days when I first saw the "Where Is The Lid" song sketch - I loved Stephen's increasing frustration during it; oh, and the "America" one that someone mentioned earlier was hilarious too) and the sketches where Hugh and Stephen critique the preceeding sketch...then critique their critique...then critique their criique of their critique. Yeah. Oh, and the Tony/Control ones are great...and does anyone remember the Trick-Or-Treaters one? That was awesome. Oh, I could go on for days...that show rocked.

The first three series (with the first disc including the 86 special) are all available seperately on region 2. The fourth and final series (which actually aired on BBC1) arrives on October 30th.

    Soupy twist!

Just got the Series 1 DVD on Friday after ordering it and waiting nearly two months to get it! Totally worth the wait because it is a hilarious show! So many favourite bits but a few include

-A barbershop sketch where Stephen Fry is over the top (as usual) and Hugh Laurie breaks character eventually because he just can't fathom how Fry will end the sketch. After assuring Laurie that he can end it in 45 seconds Fry leaves the scene under the guise of getting something. Laurie realises that Fry had no intention of wrapping the sketch up and he's now stuck 'holding the baby'.

-Fry is interviewing Laurie's character, a man who claims he can bend spoons with his psychic energy. He says that people often yell out 'freak' to him on the streets. When he displays his talent by bending the spoon with his hands, Fry asks "Are you sure it isn't 'fraud' that they yell out?"

-Another sketch is set with the premise of Laurie's character giving his name and address to Fry, a police officer in the station. A bit hard to explain but it is really funny and involves Laurie getting slapped, punched and hit with a cricket bat. This show really demonstrates how great a physical comedian Laurie was (and probably still is).

I implor anyone who is a fan of British comedy i.e Blackadder, Little Britain etc or Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie to get this and subsequent dvds. I can't stress this enough, this show is HILARIOUS!

I love those small sketches(spelling??) where they aks people about things. As the above poster said, I just love the "Oh Christ, I've left the iron on!" And I like the one after the "Kickin' ass" song(which I love) when Stephen as a woman say: "I think animal testing is a terrible idea. They get all nervous and gives silly answers" That's very funny. I like all those sketches with the two guys who are alwys drinking and talks about Margery(can't spell her name) Control and Tony is a laugh too

I absolutely adore this show. Bought the complete 4 seasons over amazon just before christmas (it also featured the cambridge footlights revue). Very good scetches, and some of the characters are really unforgettable. I think my favourites are probably the Tony & Control ones.
