There have been many comedians and sketch shows that were hailed as 'the next Monty Python'. This show probably comes closest to being just that. The Cambridge background of Fry and Laurie (similar to Cleese, Chapman and Idle) might have something to do with it, but the similarity doesn't end there. They have a fascination for authority, language and television clichés. Their humor varies from the very absurd (the non sequiturs in the vox pops) to the juvenile (Bishop and the Warlord). A remarkable similarity with Monty Python in this episode is shown in the sketches that end abruptly, without a real punchline, when an audience member protests. Like Monty Python they even dare to do this several times. And when Chief Inspector Venice shows up, you sort of expect it to be Graham Chapman...
