In all the previous episodes, when Whitley has complained about her mother's dog, Titi, she has said the dog was a Yorkshire Terrier, but in the scene where Mr. Gaines takes Whitley back to her past, the dog in the scene is a poodle, and Marion calls it Titi, so it's supposed to be the same dog, since the Marion in the present said the dog is now old and senile.
At the 1990 NAACP Image Awards, Jasmine Guy won the award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy. It was the first of five consecutive wins in the category for her.
Jaleesa and Kim sing "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing"; Marion, Whitley and Freddie sing "Joy to the World"; and the gang performs a "Hillman-style" version of "The Twelve Days of Christmas" ("Five onion rings, four flunking freshmen, three french kisses, two butts-a-bumping to my MC Hammer CD.")
This episode was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Technical Direction.
