This has to be my favorite episode of the entire series. I always wanted Dwayne and Whitley to end up together. I was so disappointed when i thought she was gonna marry Byron Douglas. I always knew they would be together, but i didnt think Whitley would get that far down the alter with another man. This is classic lovestory, where the good guy almost loses the girl but at the last minute decides to fight for her. Personally i thought this should have been the finale to the show, but it did lead into some funny episodes later on. I did like most of the Dwayne and Whitley marriage episodes that proceeded this one. But if the show had ended here, i would have been completely satisfied.
This episode is one of my favorites because Dewayne gets Whitney. This episode is makes me laugh and cry. Can remember the very first time I saw all the years ago and yet I still get excited when Dewayne ask Whitley to marry him and when he kisses her. In this eppi Whitney has her doubts about marry Byron because of her love for Dewayne. However, she still chooses to walk down the isle. Although she thinks she is better with Byron, she really knows in her heart that she is not. When she starts seeing Dewayne's face on other people's body, Dewayne steps just in time.I love how Ron backs Dewayne up as the ushers try to stop Dewayne.
"Sad veiled bride, please be happy /
Handsome groom, give her room..."
Whitley heads toward the altar and Dwayne struggles not to lose the love of his life.
It's time for Whitley to get married. If only she knew to whom.
In a fog when she wakes up, Ms. Gilbert is confronted by her mother, who insists she buckle down and choose to be with Byron; that young man has a promising career ahead of him, and can provide for her much better.
Cold feet turn into shrieking terror as Whitley begins to lose her marbles on her way through preparations and arrival at the ceremony.
Whitley hallucinates that former beau Dwayne is in every face she sees, to the point that she cannot complete her vows.
Fortunately, one of the visions is real.
Dwayne, who still very much carries a torch for Gilbert, shows up practically jumping out of his socks with anxiety. Ron urges him to make his last stand and declare his real feelings. Full of fear and joy, Dwayne follows the advice.
Although your heart goes out to Byron, we know who really belongs together.
Very funny episode, and don't forget an extra box of tissues.
