Lettie was a World War II spy after dropping out of Hillman. This means that she was approximtely 20 in 1945. That would make her about 63 years old when she returns to Hillman in 1988. Did they really intend for Lettie to be that old? Mary Alice was born in 1941; therefore her real age is 47.
Lettie states that when she was a student, she spent a lot of time at Gilbert Hall because it was a men's dorm. However, we learn that Clair Huxtable, Whitley's mom, grandmother and other FEMALE relatives lived in Gilbert. Even Mrs. Pruitt (the 92 year old alumnus in A Stepping Stone) lived there. So, when did Gilbert Hall have a chance to be a men's dorm?
Whitley: Oh sure. Somebody forgets to turn the sign around and it'll be Noah's Ark in there!
Whitley: Unisex bathrooms led to the fall of Rome. That's a fact!
Ron O'Neal, who is playing the dean, Quentin, in this episode, will later play the role of Mercer Gilbert, Whitley's father in three episodes: "Whitley's Last Supper", "Do You Take This Woman?", and "Save the Best for Last: Part 2".
Mary Alice joins the cast as Lettie Bostic.
