The book George's niece is reading is Waverley, the anonymously published historical novel by Walter Scott.
Fellowes: The letter must have struck George Harry like the knell of doom. Terrified for his life, but trapped in a web of his own secrets, he seems to heve felt there was only on person he could safely confide in.
Fellowes: The hunt for the mystery killer or hired assassin duly began.
Fellowes: The setting for this case is Stalybridge in Cheshire...outside the town stood Gorse Hall. In 1909, it was the scene of a savage crime when the master there was killed. It remains unsolved today and what makes it particularly intriguing is that the victim, one George Harry Storrs, knew he was going to be murdered.
The closing scenes from this episode were filmed at the location where Gorse Hall once stood.
George claims he is no Gradgrind. He is referring to the parochial and antiquated headmaster in Charles Dicken's 'Hard Times.'
Weird, no one has discussed A Most Mysterious Murder yet.
