A Respectable Trade is a 1998 television drama mini-series starring
Warren Clarke as Josiah Cole, Anna Massey as Sarah Cole and Emma
Fielding as Frances Scott Cole. The mini-series is set in 18th century
England, where the slave trade is lucrative, and a young woman discovers
that her husband is dealing in human cargo. A Respectable Trade is
based on the novel written by Philippa Gregory. In 1999, A Respectable
Trade won the Golden Spire Award from the San Francisco International
Film Festival and the BAFTA TV Award for Best Costume Design.
