  • Cheryl almost tosses out Jim's baseball cards, and he rescuses them. He then notices that one of them is missing, possibly stolen by one of his band mates.

I'm a big fan of According to Jim. The show makes me laugh on so many levels, but I hate episodes from any series where the cast gangs up on a vicious practical joke on another character. It's never fun for me to watch a character I like get embarrassed. I always want to get in the episode and either warn them or "quantum leap" into the character and turn the tables. Jim is at his funniest wresting to rescue his card at a funeral to keep it from getting cremated, but then you realize how perposterous it is that everyone closes his eyes and no one gets suspicious with all the racket. Jim should have been tipped off by then something wasn't exactly kosher. I mean, these people should know him by now.moreless

This Episode starts out with Jim looking for his favorite baseball card. The search comes to a complete halt when he gets the news that the drummer to his band has passed away. This news upsets everyone and much to all their dismay Cheryl goes to make a casserole. At Beltzman's house we meet his grief stricken widow and Jim sees his basebal card on the mantal. He of course wants to take it but Cheryl convinces him not to becasue Mrs. Beltzman is still grieveing and he should wait a few months. At the funeral Beltzman is being burried with the baseball card, a bucket of Fried Chicken and an adult magazine. When the Priest starts talking he mentions that Beltzman will be cremated Jim cannot handle it and stands up to "pray" for Beltzman. After he insturcts the crowd to bow their heads and close their eyes he tries to pry the card out of Beltzman's hands. It seems to be stuck there and once he wiggles it loose it flys to the back of the coffin where Beltzman's feet are. Keep in mind that while he is doing this he is also "praying". He then asks Andy to come up and help him "pray". When Andy gets up there Jim instructs him to give him a boost while he gets the card. So Andy lifts Jim into the coffin and belts out an "Andy" rendition of "Swing Low Sweet Chariot" When they get the Card out Andy goes flying back into the beautiful flower arrangments and falls. But he doesn't stop singing! Later at home Cheryl is critisizing Jim for taking the card from a dead man and calling him a theif. Later on in the night while they are sleeping Jim hears pots banging around in the kichen and smells "cooking" so he grabs his baseball bat and goes down into the kitchen to find Chicken being fried and the word THIEF in the window. As he gets closer to it Beltzmn's face pops up. Jim is scared and runs into the living room where Cheryl, Dana, Andy, Beltzman's wife and his band members are all there to yell "APRIL FOOLS" and in behid Jim walks Beltzman who is very much alive and along with his friends got Jim good!moreless
