Gracie becomes a whiz at spelling to the delight of Jim and Cheryl, but their delight turns to regret when she turns out to be so good that they have to keep driving her to competitions.
I'm a big fan of this series, and this episode pretty much sums up more of what the show is about: being a parent and the creative ways to survive it. Gracie becomes so charming and much more dimensional than just a kid spewing funny lines when she reveals how good she can spell plus there's a sense of pity for Jim and Cheryl as they end up dragging themselves out of bed to get her to her competitions. As it turns out, Gracie is just doing it to go to Red Lobster, her favorite seafood restaurant, and mine too, which helps solve the problem up until Red Lobster offers a lifetime deal that Gracie can't refuse. This is a classic and wonderful episode that sums up so much of the show's appeal and charm.
