The Trap is Set begins a problem that become more prevalent later in the show: after Mark rescues Ace, it feels like two unrelated shows are going on at the same time. The show's attempts to make the battle between Ace and his enemies feel like a real life extension of a video game also don't work too well, like where Mark opens a hint book for the Ace Lightning game and the advice he reads is "watch out for the bad guys while exploring the Carnival of Doom." Thanks a lot hint book writers, what would I do without you? Not what I'd call a strong beginning to the show.moreless
