Across Cultures is a documentary series that originally aired on PBS, beginning on September 01, 1983. This series consists of 13 episodes, each with a length of about 15 minutes. They are produced by the Agency for Instructional Technology, a non-profit organization that makes educational and instructional films. The series is narrated by John Robbins and presents a study of three diverse cultures, including the Bauole along the Ivory Coast, the Japanese and the Tarahumaran people in Mexico. The first three episodes introduce each of these three cultures and subsequent episodes compare a specific aspect of society between these cultures. The episode "Sports, Society and Self" deals with sports competition and compares the attitudes sports between cultures. The episode "Communication" describes the effect of communication technology upon these cultures and explores life along telecommunication lines, rails, roads and rivers. Additional episodes include "Providing for Family Needs," "The Environment," "Religion," "Passing on Tradition" and "Education."
