This episode was a failed pilot for a new series very similar to Jack Webb's failed 1971 series, "The D.A.," but with an emphasis on consumer fraud cases. It would have starred Ed Nelson, Frank Sinatra Jr., and Sharon Gless, all of whom were credited as special guest stars. Malloy and Reed appear only briefly at the beginning of the episode to hand the case over to Strayhorn, and at the end of the episode to escort the blind girl's family out of the courtroom.
