TV legend Bruce Gordon, after giving Robert Stack a hard time during the four year run of The Untouchables, gives Martin Milner and Kent McCord a run for their money in this classic episode of Jack Webb's police procedural drama. The episode casts Gordon as Mike Dehner, a modern day bounty hunter, who keeps coming into contact with Officers Reed and Malloy. Unfortunately for Dehner, his methods are more similar to those of the criminals he persues.
It's always great to see Gordon in a guest shot. He always played his role to the hilt no matter how large or small it was. If you're a fan of Gordon's you know he'll usually play the heavy and quite often his character will be a variation of his Frank Nitti Untouchables personna. Here that's not the case. Gordon is a heavy but he's not a Nittiesque heavy. He plays a different type of character here. Mike Dehner is not all bad, at least in his intentions, but his methods eventually bring about his arrest.
Classic episode of a fine show.
