  • "You should see yourself, Sonic. You've swollen up like you've eaten 4,000 chili-dogs!" -Miles "Tails" Prower

In this episode, Dr. Eggman has invented Pseudo Sonic, a robotic version of Sonic. He resembles Sonic so much, even a machine can't tell the difference. He was built to commit crimes and have everyone think they were the real Sonic's fault. Dr. Eggman wants Lawrence the lab rat to pilot Pseudo Sonic, but Lawrence refuses, so Dr. Eggman makes Lawrence an offer he can't refuse: He threatens to kill Lawrence's parents. Having agreed to the deal, Lawrence uses Pseudo Sonic to commit all sorts of crimes. Sonic is right by Tails watching the news media all the time Pseudo Sonic is commiting crimes. They are both confused as to why Sonic is commiting crimes. However, they get their answer too soon. Sonic finally meets Pseudo Sonic at Poison Flower Valley (although by accident), and decides not to hurt Lawrence, but instead get even with Dr. Eggman. Unfortunately, Sonic doesn't get the chance, because the poison flowers make Sonic itch so much, he swells up. Tails is very concerned about this, as Sonic won't be able to save Lawrence's parents until he heals. Suddenly, he has an idea. He uses Pseudo Sonic to rescue Lawrence's parents. Sonic later finds out Tails and Pseudo Sonic are missing. When he finds Tails, he tells him that it's going to take a lot more than swelling up to keep him down. Thinking quickly (as he usually does), Sonic disguises himself as a general and tricks Scratch and Grounder into thinking that Pseudo Sonic is the real Sonic and blowing him up. Thus, Pseudo Sonic is destroyed, the real Sonic's name has been cleared, and all of Dr. Eggman's lab rats have escaped.

There are several things I would like to point out in this episode:

-Pseudo Sonic predates Metal Sonic, who first appeared in Sonic CD. However, he may possibly have been inspired by Silver Sonic, who first appeared in Sonic 2 for both the Sega Genesis and Sega Game Gear.

-Dr. Eggman using Lawrence to pilot Pseudo Sonic is a reference to the classic Sonic games where he captures animalsand uses them to pilot his robots.

So overall, this was truly a great AoStH episode.
