Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog

"Slowwww Going" is an above-average episode for the show.



Dr. Robotnik has invented a "Subatomic Slow-Go Beam Weapon", another gadget victim of the scientist's insatiable kick for elaborate names. Simply said, it's a weapon which slows down everything that comes in contact with its emitting beam. That includes people, animals, and even objects.



Irony of fate, Sonic and Tails are helping a family of sloths, whose treehouse has been badly damaged by an attack from Robotnik. Scratch and Grounder try different traps and they finally succeed in zapping Sonic, who becomes as slow as the sloths he's been helping.



With Sonic captured, it's up to Tails to play the hero with the help of the sloths. Fortunately (and luckily), the weapon malfunctions and the sloths are zapped. They suddendly become incredibly fast.



The story is well built by the writers Jack Hanrahan and Eleanor Burian-Mohr and included well-structured scenes, intelligent and funny quotes and an ingenious concept.



Actually, the good news pile up for this episode. Tails' role as an essential sidekick becomes more evident and we can see that he's able to help out his friend when comes the time to. The sloths, especially Rocket (an ironic name for such an animal), are nice supporting characters that we see only for this episode but who we might remember long after the episode is over.



I also appreciated the work of the sound crew for this episode. The slow motion voices and the fast motion voices are very convincing and often very funny.



The only weak spot I can find for this episode is the "Sonic Sez" segment. I can't really get the point from the writers. And if I can guess right, I would say that the lesson here is essentially useless.



Globally, this is an excellent and entertaining episode.
