Whitney Ellsworth takes over job as producer from Robert Maxwell as the sponsor, Kellogg's Cereal, wanted a less violent and more kid friendly approach to the series. This second season actually blends the the first season with later seasons and is often regarded as having the best balance of episodes. Many Superman oficianados believe that George Reeves looked his absolute best.
