Adventures of Superman

Season 5 Episode 1

Peril in Paris

Aired Friday 3:30 PM Mar 08, 1957 on

  • Trivia

    • Season 5 was when the special effect of actually seeing the bullets bounce off Superman is added to the repertoire. (A version of this effect had been used in both Kirk Alyn serials, the 1948 Superman and 1950 Atom Man vs. Superman.)

    • You will notice in key scenes that George Reeves sweats quite a bit. So much so that even his padded costume could not contain it. Look right above the stomach area and you'll see a couple of wet splotches. Considering Superman has no real physical stress, seeing him "sweat" is quite amusing.

    • Superman meets the two people in a theater in a country "behind the iron curtin". Behind them is a door with a sign above it that clearly reads "EXIT". A theater in Eastern Europe would not have signs in English. There is also a plot flaw. When told of the history of the jewels he responds to the two people by assuring them that he would check up on their story. Superman meets them the following night in Paris where the phoney policemen kidnap the two and then steal the gems. Had Superman really checked on the claim, he would have known immediately that the policemen were fakes.
