  • Lois is particularly wearisome and arrogant in this episode.

Lois Lane has the unattractive assignment of writing a story on a working coal mine. A cave-in occurs while she is on site and Pops the miner is trapped. A professional rescue team quickly goes into action to try to save the man.

Lois, who is on her first ever visit to the mine, decides that she is more qualified to mount a rescue operation than the team of pros. She sneaks into the dangerous mine against the foreman's explicit orders. She locates Pops, of course, but only makes matters very, very much worse by causing a second cave-in. Now both she and the miner are trapped and their air supply is cut off!

Throughout the mining disaster, Clark Kent keeps just missing the news and is unaware of the predicament. Lois' arrogance and refusal to cooperate have by now made the viewer hope that Clark remains in the dark and Lois gets what she deserves. Will she? Or will Superman intervene in time?
