Adventures of Superman

Another ridiculous story from the sixth season. A nuclear physicist has become contaminated, so he lives in the desert, waiting for death. Why isn't this valuable scientist being guarded? Why can anybody walk into his hut and contaminate themselves? Jimmy and Lois drive out to the hut and walk in - Jimmy offers to shake hands!! The scientist tells them again and again to stay away or they will become contaminated. They smile and touch him - after they are contaminated and face certain death, they think they should all drive into the desert, away from civilization, so they drive off in the direction of ground zero, where the atomic bomb is about to be detonated!!! Brilliant!! The car runs out of gas. They get out and are amused when the scientist tries to whistle for Superman. Finally, he is able to whistle, Superman hears it and he races out to rescue them. Then, the atomic blast happens - the car is overturned by the blast.. a giant mushroom cloud erupts from the ground and spews nuclear death and destruction for miles around. The trio should be ripped to shreds. Instead, Superman flies around the mushroom cloud, waving his arms like an injured sparrow. This forces the blast back into the ground!!!! He then holds hands with the seriously contaminated trio, and, cures them of their radiation poisoning!!!!!! Another absurd ending to an absurd episode.
