In a small Mexican café Lois and Jimmy were waiting for a young man named Pepe and his pet burro named Carmelita who could read minds. Clark met his friends at the café and Pepe asked him to think about how many times he visited Mexico. Carmelita taped her hoof four times and Lois said that Clark was only in Mexico once. Clark contradicted her and said no that there were other times that he was in Mexico that she did not know about. Pepe asked Jimmy to think about how old he is and Carmelita's hoof came down four times. Clark said that was right twenty two.

Meanwhile two characters named Albert and Tiger were witnessing the demonstration and Tiger got an idea on how to get even with Superman and the Daily Planet. They set out to catch Pepe and Carmelita on their way home and convinced him they wanted him and his burro for a private demonstration of their own and they enticed him with two hundred pesos. Pepe realized quickly when they walked into a near town bank at night and saw the bank owner tied up that Tiger wanted Carmelita to read the bank owner's mind and get the combination to the safe. When pepe was unwilling to do what they asked, they said something unfortunate would happen to Carmelita, and so Pepe complied with their request. After Tiger and Albert got fifteen million pesos from the safe, they let Pepe go warning him that if he went to the police he would be put in jail for being an accomplish and that Carmelita would be destroyed in the process.

Clark was reading about the bank robbery in the morning paper when Pepe and Carmelita asked him, Lois and Jimmy to take him and the burro to Metropolis with them. Clark explained to Pepe that it would take time to get the paper work together and that he wanted to help out in the investigation of the bank robbery. Carmelita was reading Clark's mind and drew an S in the sand with her hoof. (It is interesting to see the S far away from the animal's hoof.)

Inspector Tomayo came to see the three Americans and Pepe, explaining to them that every stranger is a suspect and that their quarters would have to be searched. While watching with his X-ray vision, Clark watched the police find the money in his room and ran off to change into Superman. Lois, Jimmy and the bank owner were arrested and put into jail.

Superman appeared at the inspector's office to offer his help in the investigation. (On the DVD, you can see sweat marks on George Reeve's costume.)

Pepe brought Carmelita to the jail to let our heroes escape. Pepe threw a rope to Jimmy and he tied it around the bars while Pepe tied the other end around the burro. Carmelita pulled the wall down with very little effort. (You can see the outline of the wall where it was going to collapse.) When everyone was about ready to run, Tiger and Albert showed up to take Pepe, Lois, Jimmy and the bank owner hostage. Carmelita went to Superman at the police station. (Carmelita is a mind reading burro so she automatically knew where Clark was going to be as Superman.) When she first walked in, she went right to Superman's hand. (George must have had some treats for her.) Superman asked some basic yes and no questions to find out what happened to his friends.

Tiger and Albert had everyone tied right in front of a gas pipe. When they lit it, Tiger explained that they were going to release pressure a mile down the line to extend the flames and they were going to be burned up. The ropes would disappear and it will look like the four got caught in a gas explosion. Meanwhile Superman, the Inspector and of course Carmelita were at the torn down jail cell. Superman again asked her basic yes and no questions. (This time the camera was right in front of George and you see his arm move up and down and side to side to show the burro answering the questions.)

Superman learned his friends were South West and seven miles away from the jail and he took off to save them. The two criminals were releasing the valve of the gas line and Superman jumped right in front of the flames. Using his body to block the flames and blowing on them, Superman made the fire disappear and he closed the valve. He then untied the four, flew down the gas line and captured the two crooks.

At the end Jimmy and Lois were dressed in their work cloths, getting into a car to head back to Metropolis while Clark walked over to Carmelita to say good-bye. (Again George had some treats to give to the burro while he is asking her not to tell anyone he is Superman and he will not say that she is the only bank robbing burro in the world.)

This episode is a typical show for the last season. It is light hearted, little to no violence and not much on special effects but because of the acting it is a very enjoyable episode to watch.moreless
