Based on the comics story "Superman's Last Hour", Superman No. 92, September 1954. This was the last episode based on a comic book story in the series.

This is a sequel to the episode Panic In The Sky, characters referring to Superman's destruction of an asteroid in that story in explaining the kryptonite meteor which struck Gary Allen and is found by the criminal's scientist.

Robert Lowery had already played another DC superhero as the Batman in the 1949 Batman And Robin theatrical serial. He later played Big Tim Champion on "Circus Boy".
