Adventures of Superman

Season One under Robert Maxwell carried forward the film noir look and feel of the 1940's. The series was extremely violent for the time, yet well written. Because Superman did appeal to kids, Maxwell produced two episodes that fared more lightly with the younger crowd. "Runaway Robot" was one. Unfortunately, when Maxwell veered from the tough radio dramas he was used to doing with Superman, the show does suffer somewhat. The robot was so low tech that I would think even a child would know that there was actually a man inside a tin costume. Fortunately, episodes like these are far and few between.
