      • Based on the comics story "The Machines of Menace", Batman No. 80, December 1953.

      • Debut of Phil Tead as Professor Pepperwinkle. The script originally had the eccentric inventor be Uncle Oscar, who was played by Sterling Holloway in the second season episodes The Machine That Could Plot Crimes and The Whistling Bird ; part of the change to Pepperwinkle was the strong impression Tead had made as the comical souvenir clerk in this season's episode The Seven Souvenirs .
