Macross wants to stake a claim to the oil fields of planet Prairie's Texacota Valley, and decides the best way to go about this is to re-enact a Godzilla movie, using the giant sleeping Bronto Bear, and substituting Texacota for Tokyo. The bear, decidedly unhappy about having its winter hibernation disturbed is on a direct course to the city, and it's up to the Rangers to give the big lug a sedative and get it back to the Arctic where it belongs.moreless

- When they pull the steel girder out of the Bronto Bear's paw, they are doing a modern retake of the classical Greek story, Androcles and the Lion. In this story, a boy facing a lion in an arena is left alone by the beast, since the boy had previously pulled a painful thorn out of the lion's paw.
