North Carolina is home to enduring mysteries, giant industries, and pristine coastal beauty. It’s where gold was first found in America, and where an entire colony of settlers vanished. A state where golf rules the land, NASCAR rules the road, and college basketball holds court over them all. It’s where tobacco became king after the cotton industry went up in smoke, and where a 12-second flight sent shockwaves around the world. Experience the captivating sights and compelling history of one of America’s first colonies.moreless
I have just been awed by the breathtaking photography of the North Carolina episode of Aerial America and I must thank the producers of this series for the landscapes and the history that they provide. Each episode I have viewed has been beautifully presented and has whetted my appetite for travel to these places. But there were some areas of the narration content of North Carolina that I believe were euphemistically glossed over in my opinion. Having read a few books about the African American history, I feel that there were some omissions as to whose backs the money from Dukes tobacco were made from. And I believe those backs were the Slaves. There is also reference to Pilot mountain being a landmark for many Might some of those original hikers been the slaves walking their way to my grand country, Canada? I am ignorant of the route that slaves walked to Canada so forgive me if I am assuming. Regardless, I am happy to watch each and every episode of Aerial American that I happen upon. Keep up the good work!moreless
