African Diaries

Show Summary

African Diaries is a 14 part television series that takes a close look at some of Southern Africa's finest destination resorts. Aimed at helping enrich the experience travelers can enjoy before they actually make the journey, the episodes cover a swath of territory ranging from Mozambique to South Africa. The diminutive actress Sandra Prinsloo, a legend in the South African film community, serves as tour guide for each 27 minute episode. The series starts out to the North of Johannesburg, highlighting one of the game lodges located in that part of the country. Viewers are introduced to the concept of the Big Five game animals: lion, elephant, leopard, buffalo, and rhino; all of which are present near Sediba Private Game Lodge. Hardly a place where people rough it when they are not hunting game, the lodge features a unique boma, or enclosure made of stone, that hosts gourmet dinners outdoors at night. From there, viewers are introduced to the Kalahari, shown other hunting lodges in South Africa, and taken on a dhow trip in the Mozambique channel, a body of water that is off the coast of Mozambique.
