  • Afro had to run straight through the Empty Seven!

I have to give props to Takashi for creating the most explosive, technologically inclusive, and animatically seductive episode yet. This one had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. It's hard tp say that this has exceeded my expectaions at all, because as soon as I heard about the series I knew that this would be the result.

Afro basically walks straight into the Empty Seven stronghold, and starts bringing down the house, or should I say temple. The Empty Seven Clan bring out their secret weapon that was meant to take on Justice but instead use it on Afro. He is intercepted by a robot that looks exactly like him, knows all of his moves, and can execute them in a fraction of the time. The vengeful samurai is forced to pull out some moves that he didn't even know he had, so that he can take down his mechanized foe.

After a close call, he continues on his way and takes out most of the Empty Seven Clan. But before he can keep going through, his cybernetic doppleganger pops up for yet another unexpected visit. The battle continues on with the walking arsenal, who seems to be a glutton for punishment, and brings on some more collateral damage. Needless to say, Afro defeats the immitation and continues to fight for another episode!moreless

  • QUOTES (4)

    • Ninja: You really ain't gonna let nothin' stop you 'til you get to the top of this mountain and kill #1 is you? Well, he did cut your dad's head off, I get that. I'd be pissed, too. But this road ain't the say way, man!

    • Brother #6: (regarding Afro Droid) Has the data been tested yet?
Brother #1: Do you question me Brother 6? Does one question faith? Observe and I will make you a believer!

    • Master: You have the basic skills, but your eyes give away. Become unpredictable. Strike from your subconscious mind. Let your moves flow out from your individual essence.

    • Ninja Ninja: Oh no... Which one is you? (pause) Say something to let me know it's you!
      Afro Samurai: Shut up...
Ninja Ninja: Ooh it is you!

  • NOTES (2)

    • In the director's cut DVD of this episode, we are shown brother 3 attempting to serve Afro tea, he refuses and walks past brother 3. This clearly shows brother 3 survives. Also, there is an extended battle with the hired Assassins and the Afro Droid.

    • Brother One: The headbands worn by Afro and his number-one rival do more than just sop up sweat. They're the keys to becoming a living god--or so believes Brother One the leader of an evergrowing cult called the "Empty Seven," and he's got a legion of followers to get in Afro's way.
