  • If you don't know the story, this episode really pulls it off.

Sadly, the cast list here give away the twist, so don't look.

It's another of those Christie stories which you can read with no problem, because the conceit of a disguise can be pulled off. It doesn't always work when you can see, because it depends on being fooled by what your eyes are viewing. This episode, apart from a stonking storyline, actually manages to pull off the twist well.

It's a good episode - one of the best of the 'new' batch. There are a couple of name changes and stuff that don't really add anything and I'd love to know why they were made. The structure of the story involving Poirot has also changed a bit, but that is obviously for televisual dramatic purposes and makes perfect sense.

    A goodie
  • Top of the game

Here Poirot demonstrates exactly why the show is one of the best detective dramas on tv and why Poirot himself is one of the finest sleuths. I had begun to tire of the 2 hour format movies in the Poirot series, but with \"After the Funeral\", my faith was restored. Great guest appearances from William Russel, Geraldine James and Robert Bathurst, a flawless performance from David Suchet, some fantastic twists and turns and tense conclusion add up to one of the best adaptations I\'ve seen in a while.
  • One of the best of the newer Poirot movies, After the Funeral stays close to the book and has an ideal cast.

After the Funeral is definitely the best of the four new 2005/2006 Poirot movies I have seen. Although it was not one of my favorite of the books, the adaptation was superb in almost every way.

First of all, the cast is phenomenal. David Suchet is, as always, excellent, and Robert Bathurst's character was extremely likable. But I was even more impressed by the performance of the person who plays the murderer. This actor perfectly captured this person's coldness and insanity just like the way I imagined in the book.

The production values are also top-notch. The sweeping shots of Enderby Hall are very impressive, as are all the costumes and other aspects of the production. This is superb Poirot and is well worth checking out!
