  • Very disappointing way to end a love romance such as this.

I am quite aware there's another season, but that was originally part of another series called Ai Yori Aoshi Enishi, which is obviouly the sequel. Making this the series finale! And it couldn't have been even more exciting! I mean, Kaoru fighting Aoi's father to the death in a sword match to decide Aoi's future! Not to mention, it was battled in outer space while Anakin Skywalker destroyed the Trade Federation droid control ship! Okay, it was a lie, and guess what else? It wasn't as exciting as that too! It was actually pretty disappointing and it completely ruined the little momentum the series had. Kaoru and Aoi decide to talk things over with Aoi's father peacefully rather than running away, and predictably they were successful.

With series finales like this, you'd expect the negotiations to be more convincing than Kaoru's history speech of his life. I was surprised that Aoi's father would let her daughter go that easily, especially after how determined he was to hook her up with that American. Basically, Kaoru told the father how he was so lonely, and he gruntly accepts, only under the condition Aoi would continue smiling. So, everyone lives happily ever after, and Aoi and Kaoru continue living together, along with their family. They also got a new sibling in Chika. There isn't much I can say about this episode, except that it was the last in the series (not counting its sequel Enishi). It was quite a disappointing way to end a series, and it feels like it was handled by a bunch of ameteurs. Oh well, if I can get my hands on the sequel, maybe my opinion will change greatly.moreless
