The word "ethereal" refers to something ghostly and spiritual; they probably just used the word for a character here because they assumed no kid would know it was a separate term on its own. Well, I didn't....
Oh yeah, and of course Pompeii, Babylonia and Herculaneum were all ancient cities that were actually destroyed. I don't recall if the Ethereal mentioned Atlantis, but if she did, THAT one's phony(despite what Milo Thatch would have you believe). Edit
- When Al is holding on to the pedestal with his left hand, it changes to the same colour as the gauntlet - One of the scenes where Al is holding the elixer of life, they draw the glove with a fingernail Edit
The music box melody wasn't created for the show; it's a public domain tune. I've seen it used in ads. The song that played while Genie cooked scorpions in "The Ethereal" was also a public domain song.
Oh yeah, and isn't it convenient that they stayed up all night on the very night Mirage found that box? She's just a victim of bad timing... Edit
Khartoum takes Mozenrath's power at one point in the episode. I'd LIKE to think that Mozie's power returned when (spoiler!) Khartoum and the book were destroyed, but that is never confirmed. Edit
About the Philosopher's Stone....unlike a lot of the stuff on this show, this was a real myth believed by a lot of people in early AD. However, its use here is off-base anyway. What the Philosopher's Stone was really supposed to do was change any metal into pure gold. That's all it was supposed to do if it existed...it didn't give you "all the powers of the cosss-moooss" like Mozenrath said it would a billion times. Hmm....on another note, it's awfully convenient that it self-destructed for no reason....lazy writers. Edit
When Genie and the Muktar first encounter the mamluks, watch the background. In one part a shot of the inside of Mozenrath's citadel and not the building they were in. Edit
After the 'magic-trapping' bola's are around Mozenrath, he's still able to use some of Genies magic, which frees Genie, yet when he trys to use his own, it backfires and hits him. Edit
Gargoyles ended with 78 episodes, but this series went on to air 86. Edit
When Aladdin wakes up, he sees Jasmine with no actual hair, but when they reach the last sign, she has hair, and in the next scene she doesn't Edit
Nitpick: The design of the lotion bottle is re-used later as the female genie Eden's bottle. Edit
Shacala looks like a female version of Jafar. Edit
Genie acts like he's never seen a firework before, but he took the form of one in the first movie. Edit
In this episode, it's said that fireworks had not been introduced to Agrabah before, but fireworks were fired at the end of the first movie. Edit
When Abis Mal pulls Aladdin and Jasmine onto the boat, Jasmine's shoes are off. When she is tied to the chair, her shoes are on. Edit
In reference to the reported goof, Fasir says "Fasir will keep an *eye* out for you." It was also established in the opening monologue (spoken by Fasir, in fact) that Fasir was the name of Fashoom's brother, and there was a painting of his younger self on the wall. He was referring to himself in the third person, and thus identifying himself as Fashoom's brother, Fasir. Edit
Something very strange happens at the end of this episode--Fasir takes his blindfold off and says that he's Fashoom as well. Does this make any sense? Not really. Fasir was generally a good guy, and also blind under there, not a cyclops. The only explanation I can offer for this strange scene is that the writer thought it would stick but it didn't. Edit
Malcho's voice was by the same person in Rain Of Terror but it sounds different. Edit
Ayam Aghoul seems to be a play-on of 'I am a ghoul'. Edit
In the middle of the episode, Mozenrath grabs Xerxes around the middle with his gloved hand. However, in the next frame which is a zoomed-in shot of Xerxes, the hand wrapped around the eel's middle is not Mozenrath's gloved hand, but his other 'normal' hand. It stays this way until the end of the scene. Edit
Well, the appearance of what was under Mozenrath's glove was very brief in Black Sand, so there's a chance Al didn't get a good enough look at it like he does in this episode. Edit
