  • ONE AND DONE

Alcatraz's Season Finale: At Least the Car Chase Was Kinda Cool

Fox's behind-bars drama answered lots of questions in its finale, just not any of the ones we actually cared about.

  • Episode Summary

Information surfaces and lives are at risk as Rebecca continues her dogged pursuit of Tommy Madsen.

    • Epic finale! Great cliffhanger!

      10
This was a great finale for the first season! To be honest, the episode went a little slowly in the beginning and the first half was not particularly great, but things became very interesting as the episode continued.

That room that opened with the keys is just super interesting and I can't wait to see how that comes into play next season! I think they ave us many great cliffhangers here, and the main cliffhanger is something I don't want to spoil for anyone who is yet to see it, but it is so suepsenseful! I couldn't believe it!

I hope there is another season and I hope it continues to entertain! I want some more mysteries to be solved!! :)moreless
    • Season 2 is coming

      10
Well, who else is shell shocked? Madsen's supposed death WAS A PERFECT cliffhanger that left intensity and uncertainty for a second season. And the fact that we finally saw what was the big secret to the mystery of the prison, and their is that mystery guy working for the warden. After this, I wouldn't or can't see a reason that fox would not do a second season. But we would have to wait 6-10 months to find out. If they are doing a full season next, it would probably start in september. If it is going to be another half season (which would suck) it would probably start next january. We will just have to wait and found out.moreless
    • At least a mind-blowing finale... haha, just kidding, just same old, same old...

      4.0
So I guess the Alcatraz' series/season finale was a perfect example of the show's whole run: a whole lot of nothing interesting... perfect way to switch the lights off ;)...

To be fair, there were a few answers, a Rebecca and grandfather faceoff, Soto stood up to Hauser, the door was opened... however, that was far from being enough to satisfy my need for answers. And it didn't help either that the main cast had remained just a little more interesting than a table talker for the run of the season. I mean how was I supposed to care for a character fighting for her life if I probably didn't notice a different actress anyway?

And the door... ok, there were three keys and these keys the only way to get behind that door. And then there's a control room behind that door? Seriously? That was the big secret, the big reveal of the first season's finale? Not to forget the Warden's scientist Hauser and Lucy also found in the room (probably just thrown through time or however the other '63s had come back) who was the one who wanted the blood of the inmates and upgraded it somehow with a silver ingredient. The ultimative tracking device or something like that? That's it?

So the show basically captured a few inmates, found three keys and a control room. Well done. They could have done that in the premiere episode.

I mean, there had been a little hope on my side that they would at least graze the Warden's plan. Motivation is usually a good thing to let someone like the viewer know what they are dealing with, to keep them interested... or how exactly did the '63s come back? And what about Hauser's age. He was in his 20s in '63 and in 2012 that makes him about 60 years old?

However, I guess this show was just designed to last at least 25 years and just really slow burning their material. We are probably lucky they revealed the names of the main characters so early in its run. Though I'm not sure I could still tell them. However, I wish Alcatraz all the best and hope they catch the remaining '63s. At least they have a control room with a lot of blinking dots on a map to follow now...moreless
