When Kate slams the beer cans down, Brian's is supposedly full, according to ALF. However, for as hard as Kate puts it down, nothing spills out the top, and instead both cans make a hollow sound.
ALF's voice in this premiere episode is considerably deeper and gruffer than later as the series develops.
When ALF is in the garage with Lynn, trying to guess the tune on the radio, the miniature train on the tracks in front of him disappears and reappears between shots.
When Willie gets into the shower and turns to tell ALF to stay away from the window, he has no shaving cream on. But when he reopens the shower curtain he has three spots on his face.
(first line) Willie: (voice-over) This is the way it began, that extraordinary night. The night... he came.
Raquel: Trevor, is there such a thing as a cross between a kangaroo and an aardvark? Trevor: Ah, stop putting yourself down.
Kate: This thing is not staying! Brian: E.T. got to stay! Kate: E.T. was a movie. This is real! This is on our coffee table!
Willie: Hello? Hello? This is K726XAA. Can you read me? They're answering but I don't recognize the language. Kate: Why don't you just shut it off? Willie: I ... can't ... I can't control it. It's locked in on the signal. Kate: Willie, what's that? Willie: Oh, my gosh! It can't be. Kate: The lights! What happened to the lights? Lynn: Daddy! Daddy! What's that thing in the sky? Brian: What's going on? Willie: It's closing in fast. I think maybe we'd better.... (The spacecraft crashes into garage.) Willie: We have a visitor.
(alarm goes off) Kate: Morning. Alf: Morning. (Kate turns and sees Alf, starts screaming. Alf starts screaming too.) Kate: WILLIE! Alf: WILLIE! (Alf runs into bathroom and slams door behind him.) Willie: What's going on out there? Alf: Nothin'. Just screaming.
Kate: I said no soda pop. Brian: Its not soda pop, its beer. ALF: You're about out of Coors!
Willie: Stay away from the window. We've got a very nosy neighbor Mrs. Ockmonek. ALF: Ockmonek? Sounds like a typo.
ALF: I want to do everything you do. Your my idol. Willie: I'm going to take a shower. ALF: Count me in. Willie: I prefer to take one alone thank you. ALF: OK. Just don't use all the hot water.
ALF's voice is that of producer Paul Fusco.
In scenes where Alf walks around, seen in full size, his head is differently shaped than in the scenes where he only talks or walks with only the upper half of the body shown. This is because in some earliest episodes and in the first opening sequence, a walking and running Alf was portrayed by Michu Meszaros wearing a suit, and not by a puppet.
Syndication cuts out the first 2 minutes of the pilot episode, beginning the episode when Willy shuts of the radio. The entire first scene in the garage is cut out.
Lynn identifies a song on the radio as "Born in the USA," a 1985 song by Bruce Springsteen.
ALF and Lynn are both singing "Proud Mary." Proud Mary was a song by Creedence Clearwater Revival in 1969.
Kate: I don't know what it's like on Mork... Kate is incorrectly referencing the 1978-1982 TV show "Mork & Mindy", where an alien named Mork from the planet Ork comes to Earth.
