This is the only episode where the Tanners have an answering machine.
ALF: (talking to himself) Don't panic, Willie will help you. He always helps. (Looks around at the mess he's made of the house). I'm dog food!
The two immigration officers in this episode go uncredited.
Trevor tells Willie to contact his cousin, who is an immigration lawyer, by dialing a number and asking for inmate "24601." This is also the inmate number for Jacque Valjean, the protagonist of Victor Hugo's Les Miserables.
One of ALFs apologies is kidnapping the Lindbergh baby. The Lindbergh baby was the son of the famous aviator Charles A. Lindbergh whos was kidnapped out of his bedroom window and later found murdered in the 1930s.
ALF: This is not a Bergman movie, Willie! It's fairly cut and dry.
Allusion: ALF is alluding to Ingmar Bergman, the Swedish film director who was known for his enigmatic motion pictures.
The title is derived from a Roy Orbison song with the same name.
