Mrs. Byrd says at one point in her frustration because of perceived ineptitude with the police, "I'm going to Gary Hart!" She's alluding to the lawyer and politician who ran for presidential election in 1984 and in 1988 on the democratic ticket.
Willie asks how Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid ended. Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid is a 1969 western about a couple of bank robbers. The end of the movie has them surrounded and ready to be gunned down.
ALF asks Willie is he's seen Dog Day Afternoon. Dog Day Afternoon is a 1975 movie about a bank robbery and hostage situation which ends badly for the culprits.
