Marcia Fowler accuses a neighborhood boy named Roy Bullock of being a peeping Tom. Roy denies it and manages to ingratiate himself with Marcia's husband Jack and her lonely stepson. When hen Marcia gets an obscene phone call she tells Jack that it was Roy. Roy denies that he is doing anything and tells Jack that Marcia may simply be looking for attention. Later, after Jack goes away on a business trip, Marcia receives another obscene phone call. She confronts Roy who tells her that she is a tease and both an improper wife and a lousy mother. Marcia becomes fearful that Roy is crazy when he tells her that his mother was just like her. She grabs a gun convinced that he is the prank caller and kills him. Just as he is about to die, the phone rings and Marcia hears the obscene caller once again.
