  • A lot of people might not know how to spot this type or to cope with them because they use mental cruelty to tyrannize people. This is one of the master's less frightening episodes but an excellent portrayal of a real problem.moreless

    Alice Pemberton has a nightmare about a shadowy force closing in on her from behind her bedroom curtains while recovering from a mysterious illness at her mother's. She arbitrarily decides to come home two days early and lays down a trail of snideness on her wait staff, family and associates. Her frazzled husband (Gary Merrill) tries to tactfully "pull her coattails" then hits upon a permanent solution to the problem.
